NORTH BEND, Wash. (KOMO) -- A urine sample with a rather dire warning attached to the package triggered the evacuation of a movie theater and a trip to the hospital for a manager after the package got delivered to the wrong address.
The mysterious package arrived at the North Bend Theater in the state of Washington Friday evening and when the theater manager opened it, they found a box with a liquid inside labeled "highly contagious human substance," according to Sgt. Paul Graham with Snoqualmie Police, which provides police services to North Bend.
Hazmat crews raced to the scene as the theater was evacuated and nearby streets were closed as crews tried to determine what the substance was. Meanwhile, the manager was taken to a local hospital to be checked out due to regular exposure protocol, Graham said.
But tests confirmed the liquid inside was urine and was "disposed of appropriately in a bio container," said officials with the Eastside Firefighters union.
Turns out the package was supposed to be delivered to a medical clinic in Tacoma, Graham said. It's unclear how it ended up in North Bend, over 40 miles away.
